Imagine you are cast adrift, in need of help, who would you call on? You don't need to be literally cast adrift, but oftentimes thats the way we feel at work, at home, in our businesses. Try this insightful coaching exercise.
My mother always told me to watch the company I kept – of course what did my Mom know? Seems she was right. Whether we like it or not we are influenced by the people we hang around with, and others judge us by the company we keep. Like it or not – it’s a reality. Our personality, which drives our values in large part will determine who we hang out with – this can be positive or destructive. If we only hang out with those who are ‘just like us’ – it can be limiting, as we support each other’s behaviours.
Try this FUN exercise – you choose whom you would have in your lifeboat if you were cast adrift, your compass out of whack – your oars overboard. This is such a useful exercise to use when you are at your lowest ebb (pardon the pun) and need to draw upon the people who most influence and support you in a positive way.
This is a great journal exercise – come back to it again and again to see if you choose the same people – you must choose 9 people – here are the rules:
What Colour is Your Leadership?
All leaders have strengths, and all leaders have weaknesses or blind spots. In order to succeed with those you lead, it is important to first understand your strengths and accept and acknowledge where you have weaknesses. It is in the understanding of your blind spots and weaknesses that gives you the power to be a highly effective leader. Personality Dimensions is a powerful but easy to understand model to help leaders identify how you lead.
Personality Dimensions is based on the theory of temperament, there are four basic innate patterns of behavior. They are:
Authentic Blue, Inquiring Green, Organized Gold and Resourceful Orange.
Are the same mistakes and perhaps conflicts derailing your plans over and over again? If this sounds familiar, perhaps a bit of team building is needed to help your employees or team members establish the bond they need to work well together. These retreats are perfect for helping the group to learn how each individual contributes to your cause as a collective whole. Consider booking a Personality Dimensions™ workshop to get your team ‘Talking in Colour’. This FUN, but very results oriented team building exercise is ideally suited to get team members honouring differences and building self esteem.
I love to help people become their best selves. transition and change is with us always, we are constantly re-inventing ourselves and that requires commitment and a process.
