The Colour of Your Communication
You are Unique! Yes, we all have our own way of communicating, some of our communication patterns are related to our personality style, however we all have one thing in common and it's listening from our own perspective. Once you learn the communication and listening styles of others - you will be far more satisfied with your interactions. Learn to Listen with Colour, put aside your judgements and listen actively. Pay attention to the words and the meaning behind the words, listen for the core needs and emotions of the speaker.

Authentic Blue 
Blues listen for meaning when communicating, they are always thinking "What do they mean by that?" This can get Blues into trouble if they attach too much meaning to what others say, causing them stress and upset. Blues are very intuitive and will soon 'check out' of the conversation if the other person seems phoney or unkind. Blues are all about human connection, and human growth. They are naturally empathetic and excellent listeners. Blues are intuitive communicators, they will 'just know' if something is wrong and will attempt to help. Blues communicate with metaphors, stories and a global point of view.

TIPS: 
Blues, get to your point more quickly, you may be perceived as overly sensitive, and taking too much time to frame your message.
Communicating with Blues:
Be friendly and open, build rapport before you get to your point. Be appreciative, acknowledge their contributions. Avoid hurtful comments or language.

Inquiring Green
Greens listen for purpose and information. Greens will assume that you have approached them for information, which can get our Greens into trouble sometimes because they share too much information. Greens will 'check out' of a conversation if the other person uses unnecessary phrases or conversation. Greens are great problem solvers, they are constantly thinking "How can I fix this problem", and may appear the aloof or unfeeling - this is not the case., they are genuinely trying to help in their own way. Greens are all about knowledge, they love to share and acquire it.

TIPS:
Greens, avoid data dumping, it is your natural tendency to share information or advice - you may be being perceived as a 'know it all'.
Communicating with Greens:
Appreciate their strategic thinking and problem solving. Acknowledge their objectivity. Avoid redundancy in conversation.

 Organized Gold
Golds listen for order and detail.
Golds value a well planned direct exchange - they will get stressed if you get off topic or ramble too much. They like the conversation to have a purpose, They are thinking "What's my role in this, what should I do with the information?" Golds are listening for intention, what's right and wrong. They are not comfortable with the use of metaphors, general impressions or interpretations, they crave facts and details. The Gold communication style is appropriate and respectful. 


TIPS:
Golds watch your body language (such as pressing your lips together) as you may be perceived as judgemental.
Communicating With Golds
If you commit to something follow through, if yo lose their respect you may never get it back. Acknowledge their contributions and hard work. Appreciate their attention to detail and reliability.

Resourceful Orange 
Orange styles listen for usefulness of information, impact and relevance. They will soon tune you out if you do not communicate directly or reveal how the information is relevant and useful. In a sales situation, they will either take over the conversation or walk away if you take too long to get to the point. They are always thinking (or saying) "Just cut to the chase." They will be thinking how the information can serve them in some way, "What's in it for me?" If they cannot find a purpose for the information they will move on!


TIPS:
Orange, sometimes you may be perceived as fidgety or scattered. Try to stay with the conversation.
Communicating with Orange
Use language that has impact such as. Keep your messages short and concise.  You are the best!" "Way to go great choice" "Thanks for your quick action, you saved the day"
